Inpatient/Swing Bed Services
LMC has a 25-bed critical access medical care unit. The unit is staffed by Registered Nurses and Licensed Vocational Nurses 24 hours a day/7 days a week. Hospitalist/Nurse Practitioner, Lauren Kutac, FNP-B, and Nurse Practitioner, Cindy Heibel, FNP-C are on staff Monday - Friday 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. to assist clinic physicians with inpatient care.
Swing Bed Services are offered under a Medicare program designed to provide skilled care to those needing extra time to recover before returning home. The Swing Bed Program allows patients to move from acute care to skilled care within Lavaca Medical Center. This ensures the continuity of care by keeping the patient in the same facility with the same physicians, nurses, and therapists. If an emergency arises during the stay of a Swing Bed patient, they are able to return to the acute care setting.
