Christina Awad, M.D.
Biography:
Major Christina Awad, M.D., Gastroenterologist, is a graduate of Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine in Rochester, Michigan, where she received her Medical Doctor (MD) degree. She completed her Internal Medicine (IM) Internship at the University of Maryland in Baltimore, Maryland and her Internal Medicine (IM) Residency at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi. She completed a Gastroenterology and Hepatology Fellowship in San Antonio, Texas.
Dr. Awad, is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM).
In addition to receiving her MD degree and being boarded in two specialties, Christina is also a Major in the United States Air Force. She has held the position of Assistant Professor at the Uniform Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Maryland. She has also practiced as an Internal Medicine Staff Physician at Wilford Hall and Gastroenterology Staff Physician at San Antonio Military Medical Center (SAMMC), both in San Antonio, Texas. Major Christina Awad, M.D., has also held the position of Adjoint Assistant Professor at The University of Texas Health Science School of Medicine in San Antonio, Texas.
Dr. Awad is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians, and holds membership in the: American Gastroenterological Association, American College of Gastroenterology, American Association for the Study of Liver Disease, and the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. She has earned various honors and awards, including, an Air Force Commendation Medal, First Grade Office of the Quarter for the 59th Medical Squadron, First Grade Officer of the Quarter for the 59th Medical Group, and Boyer Academic Scholar at Messiah College. She has also been published in numerous publications and presentations.
